Every June 15th, World Elder Abuse Awareness Day highlights the importance of caring for one of the most vulnerable populations in our community, older adults.
Elder abuse can take many forms and lead to serious physical injuries and long-term psychological consequences. According to the United Nations, By 2050, it is estimated that 1 in every 6 people will be aged 65 or over, increasing the vulnerability experienced by older persons to violence. Currently, around 1 in 6 people 60 years and older experienced some form of abuse in community settings during the past year. Click here to access more facts and information from the UN.
