October is Domestic Violence Awareness Month and is dedicated to raising awareness, educating the public, advocating for prevention, supporting survivors, and mourning the lives lost by domestic violence.

Domestic violence affects individuals in every community, regardless of age, economic status, sexual orientation, gender, race, religion, or nationality. It can result in bodily injury, psychological trauma, and, in severe cases, even death. The devastating physical, emotional, and psychological consequences of domestic violence can cross generations and last a lifetime.

Have you or anyone you know experienced physical, emotional, or sexual violence perpetrated by an intimate partner? If so, you or they are experiencing domestic violence, a systematic pattern of power and control perpetrated by one intimate partner against another.

Do you know the warning signs of an abusive relationship?

Does your partner:

  • Look at you or act in ways that scare you?
  • Make all of the decisions?
  • Prevent you from working or attending school?
  • Isolate you?
  • Show intense jealousy when you spend time with others?
  • Intimidate you with weapons?
  • Shove, slap, choke/strangle or hit you?
  • Threaten to commit suicide or kill you?
  • Are you afraid to say “No”?

At LiveSafe Resources, it’s our commitment to advocate for those impacted by domestic violence, provide trauma-informed programs and services that empower and rebuild lives, be the expert in the areas of domestic violence in our community, and collaborate with other organizations to provide superior services and programs.
